Farmington Dems Endorse Demicco For 6th Term

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington Democrats have unanimously endorsed State Rep. Mike Demicco, who is running to serve a sixth term in the Connecticut House of Representatives.

Demicco (D-District 21) received the endorsement at a recent Farmington Democratic Town Committee meeting.

A deputy majority leader in the House, he currently serves on its environment, public health, and energy & technology committees. He was first elected in 2012 after serving four terms on the Farmington Town Council.

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve Farmington and Unionville in the General Assembly, and I look forward to continuing that service," Demicco said in a statement. "Representing our town in the legislature is a huge responsibility, and I'm proud to have worked in a bipartisan fashion to help solve some of Connecticut's most pressing problems."

In a news release, Demicco cited securing a state reimbursement of up to $40 million for construction of the new Farmington High School and increasing the state's allocation of municipal and education aid to Farmington as among his legislative accomplishments.

Prior to becoming a state representative, Demicco was a high school and middle school history teacher and a stay-at-home father.

He also worked as a tutor in the Kindergarten Acceleration Program at East Farms School, served on the PTO Executive Board, and was a school library volunteer.

He and his wife, Brenda, have lived in Farmington for 30 years.

"As we transition out of the pandemic to a more normal way of life, I am committed to ensuring that our state government continues to be responsive to the needs of all our residents, schools, and businesses," Demicco said in a statement. "Connecticut faces many challenges in the coming months and years. It will require experienced, thoughtful leadership to deliver meaningful tax relief, reduce our carbon footprint, promote business retention and expansion, and address our transportation, health, energy, and housing needs. With the support of the residents of the 21st District, I will continue my efforts to make people's lives better."
