Farmington Election Results 2023: GOP Wins Council Chairmanship

Thousands of Farmington residents have cast their votes in the 2023 municipal election in a number of key races.

FARMINGTON, CT — The polls have closed in Farmington and the votes are being counted to determine numerous key races on the board of selectmen, board of finance, and school board.

The biggest race of the night featured a wide-open battle for Farmington Town Council Chair, with Democrat Rafeena Bacchus Lee, Republican Joe Capidoferro , and petitioning hopeful William D. Rebillard looking to fill the post vacated by retiring GOP incumbent C.J. Thomas.

The following is Farmington's 2023 election ballot and results (when available):

Town Council Chairperson (vote for one)

Democrat: Rafeena Bacchus Lee

Republican: Joe Capidoferro

Petitioning: William D. Rebillard

UPDATE: According to the Connecticut Secretary of the State's office, which officially released Farmington numbers Wednesday morning, Capioferro won a narrow election with 50.61 percent of the vote.

Town Council (vote for two per district)

District 1

Democratic candidates are: David Wladkowski and Brian FX Connelly.

Republican candidates are: Shari L. Greco and Sarah Healey.

District 2

Democratic candidates are: Matt Hutvagner and Patricia Boye-Williams.

Republican candidates are: Keith Vibert and Amy Palumbo.

Board of Education (vote for three)

Democratic candidates are: James Rackcliffe, Beth Kintner and Erika Nowakowski.

Republican candidates are: Nicole Morin, Angela Cianci and Suraj Kurtakoti.

Board of Assessment Appeals - full term (vote for one)

Democratic candidates are: Frank Gerratana

Republican candidates are: Richard Higley

Board of Assessment Appeals - two-year vacancy (vote for one)

Republican Michael J. Koster is running unopposed.

Planning and Zoning Commission - full term (vote for two)

Democratic candidates are: Matthew Randle and Liz Sandford.

Republican candidates are: Rojia Afshar and Bob Canto.

Planning and Zoning Commission - two-year vacancy (vote for one)

Democrat David St. Jermain is running unopposed.

Planning and Zoning Commission Alternates - full term (vote for two)

Democratic candidates are: Mike Tucci and Bruce Polsky.

Republican candidates are: Jigesh Shah and Kyla Zimmerman.

Zoning Board of Appeals (vote for two)

Democratic candidates are: Cate Grady-Benson and Elizabeth Gemski.

Republican candidates are: Ron Llewellyn and Kerry Callahan.

Zoning Board of Appeals Alternate (vote for two)

Democratic candidates are: Marianne Dess-Santoro and Martha Subramanian.

Republican candidates are: Peter Mastrobattista and Philip Dunn.

Constables (vote for two)

Democratic candidates are: Swapna Das and Peter Bagdigian.

Republican candidates are: Diane M. Rogers and Geno J. Avenoso
