"He will bring a depth of experience and expertise in the areas of school finance management, facilities, security, technology, transportation, interscholastic athletics and human resources to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations in Farmington," wrote Greider in a statement.

Zittoun has led Hall High School, one of two public high schools in West Hartford, for 11 years.

He also has an extensive teaching career that includes time in elementary education.

That experience, according to Greider, makes him even more qualified for his new role.

"Given his experience as an elementary educator, district-wide teacher leader and long-time high school administrator, this is an especially important time to welcome Dan Zittoun due to the opening of our new Farmington High School facility, the transition to a new bus company as well as several other important and timely finance and operations projects," she said.

Prior to Hall, Zittoun was an assistant school principal for 15 years in Madison Public Schools.

Zittoun said he was excited about his new job.

"I am honored to join the Farmington Public Schools as the interim assistant superintendent for operations and finance. Farmington has a long history of educational excellence and I was drawn to the opportunity to be part of a dynamic community of students, educators, and families," he said in a statement.

Zittoun received his Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Master of arts degree in education from the University of Connecticut.

In addition, he received a sixth-year degree in educational leadership from Southern Connecticut State University and his Superintendent of Schools certification from Central Connecticut State University.

He has served as an elementary teacher, instructional technology specialist and assistant principal in Madison before his 11-year Hall tenure.
