Farmington Grad Earns Prestigious Academic Award
The soon-to-be college freshman was named a National Merit Scholar during the July round of awards.
FARMINGTON, CT — The National Merit Scholarship Corp. July 14, announced nearly 800 additional winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities.
Among them was one from Farmington
These new Merit Scholar designees join more than 2,900 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in June.

Chosen from Farmington recently was Caleb J. Evans, who graduated in June from Farmington High School.
Evans will be attending Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., and is studying for a career in aerospace engineering.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among the finalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program who will attend their institution.
College-sponsored awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors.
