Niche.com, this week, released its annual top high schools survey, with Farmington High School coming in among Connecticut's best.

FARMINGTON, CT— A prominent survey of high schools in the U.S. has named Farmington High School among the best in Connecticut.

FHS, located on Monteith Drive in Farmington, was the eighth-best public high school in the state, according to Niche.com.

The ranking comes as FHS is in its second year in a new, state-of-the-art building, which opened in August 2024 and cost $145.6 million to build.

Niche.com's 2026 Best Public High Schools in America ranking evaluates more than 93,000 public high schools nationwide.

Niche said its rankings, now in the 11th year, differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance.

According to Niche, its rankings also include input from students, alumni, and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources, and facilities.
