Farmington HS A Finalist In National STEM Competition
The school was named one of six in Connecticut that could win a $100,000 prize next spring.

FARMINGTON, CT — The local high school was recently named one of six Connecticut finalists in a national technology competition that could end the school $100,000 when all is said and done.
Samsung Electronics America Dec. 3 honored 300 public middle and high schools from all 50 states as state finalists in the 15th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow national STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) competition.
One of the schools, according to an announcement from the national electronics retailer earlier this month, is Farmington High School.

Each state finalist school has won a $2,500 Samsung technology prize package and they are looking toward becoming one of three national winners winning $100,000 for their school.
Overall, Samsung will award more than $2 million in prizes to this year’s participating schools.

The competition now advances to its next phase, culminating in April with the selection of three national winners, each receiving a $100,000 prize package.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow is a national competition designed to empower students in grades 6-12 to unleash the power of STEM to create innovative solutions addressing critical issues in their local communities.
"The competition engages students in active, hands-on learning that can be applied to real-world problems – making STEM more tangible and showcasing its value both in and outside of the classroom," wrote Samsung in an announcement.
