Farmington Libraries Seek Artists To Redesign 2026 Library Cards

Contestants have until Jan. 12, 2026, to submit entries for the Farmington Library Card Design Contest.

FARMINGTON, CT — The Farmington Library System is redesigning its library cards, and it is looking for original artwork via its library card design contest that recently kicked off.

That's where you come in.

Farmington Libraries, which oversees the main Farmington Library and the Barney Library, is looking for artwork inspired by its mission to empower people to "learn, connect, and grow."

"We’re calling on Farmington artists of all ages to help us design our new library cards," wrote the Farmington Library System.

There are some guidelines:

• The artist must be a Farmington Library cardholder.

• All art submitted must be original art. No copyrighted works or characters in the design. Art made with generative AI will not be accepted.

•Submissions must stay within the dimensions included in the instructions below. By entering the contest, participants grant the library the right to use, reproduce, and publish their designs for promotional purposes.

• Content must be appropriate for all ages and connect to the library's mission.

One winner will be selected from each of the following age groups: Kids (Ages 0-12), Teens (Ages 13-17), and Adults (Ages 18-plus)

All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2026.

Submissions will be judged by the library management team based on the design originality and how it reflects the library’s mission and vision.

Winners will be announced on Jan. 16, 2026. The winners will receive a copy of their design on a library card and a piece of library merch.
