Stanley-Whitman House Recognized in Best of Connecticut Contest 2025

The Museum is honored for Historical, Cultural, and Family programming.

FARMINGTON, CT (June 3, 2025) – Stanley-Whitman House, a ca. 1720 National Historic Landmark and Farmington’s first museum, has been recognized in two prominent reader polls honoring excellence across Connecticut – one statewide and one regional.

In the Best of Connecticut 2025 statewide readers’ poll conducted by Connecticut Magazine, Stanley-Whitman House was named a Finalist in three categories: Cultural Attraction for Families; Historical Attraction; and Museum. These honors will be featured in the July 2025 issue of Connecticut Magazine.

In the regional Best of Connecticut / Hartford County poll hosted by CT Insider, Stanley-Whitman House was named a winner in the categories of Historical Attraction and Museum, and a Finalist in the Cultural Attraction for Families category.

Connecticut Magazine’s annual contest recognizes excellence in a wide range of categories across the state, from food to health and entertainment. The most highly nominated venues are entered into the voting phase to vie for the prestigious title of “Best of CT” in their respective fields. The contest offers Stanley-Whitman House the chance to showcase and promote the important work being done at the museum and its positive impact on the community.

Located in the historic village of Farmington, Connecticut, Stanley-Whitman House is a historic and educational resource dedicated to the preservation, study, and interpretation of the history and culture of early Farmington. As a living history center and museum, S-WH offers a dynamic array of programs, events, classes, and exhibits that encourage visitors of all ages to immerse themselves in history by engaging in colonial life and exploring the ideas that shaped the community.
