Unique Farmington Art Exhibit Looks At People In Coffee Shops

The town's Barney Library has an exhibit called 'Coffee House Portraits' on display through Monday, March 31.

FARMINGTON, CT — This is the last week to see a special art exhibit in Farmington that takes a look at a type of place many of us love to visit — a coffee house.

Farmington Libraries' Barney Library, 71 Main St., is hosting a special art exhibit this month called "Coffee House Portraits."

"The Coffee House Portraits explore the inner life of strangers sitting in a coffeehouse, at a moment in time," wrote the library in an announcement.

"The portraits are an expressive exploration of the faces and beings of these strangers."

The exhibit, by artist Garrett Phelan, opened on March 1, with a brief welcoming reception celebrating the exhibit on March 15.

Visitors have until Monday, March 31, to see the works, all of which depict people in coffee houses.

The exhibit is open to the public during open hours at Barney.

However, since the gallery spaces are used for other programs and events, the exhibits may not always be accessible.

Anyone wishing to view the exhibits are asked to check with the libraries by phone at 860-673-6791 to confirm availability and accessibility of the rooms.
