Ruzek's official title is "Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Human Resources." It becomes effective Jan. 1, 2025.

Ruzek will replace Kimberly Wynne, currently the assistant superintendent of curriculum, instruction, and human resources, who will retire on Dec. 31 after 40 years of "exceptional service to the Farmington Public Schools," wrote school officials in an announcement.

Wynne and Ruzek are expected to work closely together over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

Ruzek has served as Farmington’s director of curriculum and instruction since 2012.

She has also served other leadership roles within Farmington Public Schools as a former Assistant Principal and Dean of Students at Farmington High School.

Ruzek is a graduate of the Farmington Public Schools and a long-time leader within the school district

“Veronica truly loves working with the students, families, faculty and staff within the Farmington schools. Her work ethic and commitment to innovation have contributed to our school district’s reputation in Connecticut and beyond as a leading and innovative learning organization," Greider said.

Farmington Board of Education Chairman Bill Beckert agreed.

“Over my 16 years on the board of education, I have seen Veronica grow from a classroom teacher and school-based administrator at the high school to a statewide leader in curriculum development," he said. "She has an unmatched passion for Farmington schools, as a student, a salutatorian at FHS, a teacher, a school-based administrator, and a district leader."

Ruzek said she was honored with the new role.

“It is an honor to work in this community alongside the very best educators, students, and families," Ruzek said.

"Over many years, we have worked together to build on our strong tradition of excellence and shape the kinds of learning experiences our students will need to be successful now and into their future.

"I am excited to continue to serve Farmington in this new role and will continue to work hard to make sure all of our children feel competent, confident, and inspired to take on new challenges and, ultimately, chart a meaningful course for their lives. As a Farmington graduate myself, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to carry on the tradition of excellence in our public schools.”

Ruzek has served the Farmington Public Schools for approximately 20 years in various roles including teacher and dean of students at the high school, FHS assistant principal, and, currently, the director of curriculum and instruction.

Prior to being a teacher and school-based administrator in Farmington, she was a social studies teacher in Newington.

Ruzek holds a master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, a master’s degree from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Virginia. Additionally, she is a graduate of Farmington High School.
