Connecticut Society of Genealogists seeking Literary Award submissions
Literary Awards offers cash prizes
East Hartford, CT – May 2, 2024: The Connecticut Society of Genealogists Literary Awards, a judged literary competition that recognizes excellence in the field of genealogy writing, is accepting submissions for its 2024 awards program.
The CSG Literary Awards is dedicated to promoting and supporting the work of talented writers, bloggers, researchers, and family historians. The competition is open to writers of all ages and backgrounds, and offers cash prizes and other recognition to winners in multiple categories. CSG membership is not required to enter the competition.
A Grand Prize of $500 is awarded to the overall best publication and two First Prizes of $250 each may be awarded for the best in each of two categories: “Genealogy & Family History” and “Genealogical Resource/DNA/Technology.”

The Literary Awards program also includes the “Tell Me Your Family Story” Essay Contest. Essays are informal and may include family stories; oral histories; genealogy-related anecdotes, blog entries, excerpts from an ancestor’s journal diary; transcriptions of Bible records or cemetery markers; family histories/traditions, and socio-economic background surrounding/affecting an ancestor. The winner will receive a cash prize of $100.
Winners are awarded and recognized at CSG’s Annual Fall Seminar held on October 5, 2024 in Wallingford, CT Their work is published in the Connecticut Genealogy News and made available to patrons of CSG’s research library in East Hartford, CT.

Now is the time to get the recognition you deserve. Book entries published after 2018 are eligible to compete for prizes. As CSG President, Pauline Merrick says, “Every family has at least one interesting story - why not tell it? That is what makes the essay contest so interesting."
