Eversource Plans Tree Trimming in Glastonbury

Eversource has announced that it has begun a $68 million tree trimming program that will include trees in Glastonbury.

The company said the program involves trimming trees surrounding more than 17,000 miles of overhead power lines throughout the state.

According to an announcement from the utility, there will be "significant trimming" in Glastonbury.

“Trees, especially the fall foliage, are one of the things that make Connecticut so beautiful. But as one of the most heavily wooded states in the country, they can have a devastating effect on the electric system,” said Sean Redding, Manager of Vegetation Management at Eversource. “Our consistent tree trimming work not only improves day-to-day reliability for customers, it allows us to remove hazardous trees before Mother Nature does it first.”

Eversource’s team of licensed arborists will be collaborating with the tree warden in each town where work is done, and notify customers in advance if trimming is necessary on their property.
