Familiar Educator To Start New Tenure In Glastonbury This Month
A familiar face is coming back to the Glastonbury School system.

GLASTONBURY, CT β A new school system administrator with a familiar face is ready to start in Glastonbury this month.
Scott Hurwitz was recently appointed the Glastonbury public school system's new assistant superintendent for personnel and administration. He will replace Matt Dunbar, who was recently appointed superintendent of Suffield Public Schools.
He is set to begin his new position in late August.

"The candidate pool for this position was exceptionally competitive, but Dr. Hurwitzβs skills and experience set him apart," school officials said.
Hurwitz is familiar with the Glastonbury education system since he served as a building administrator for Gideon Welles School from 2012 to 2018, first as assistant principal and then as interim principal for one year.

Hurwitz left Glastonbury to become a middle school principal in Farmington and then served as the town's high school principal.
In 2022, Hurwitz was appointed Farmington Public Schools assistant superintendent of finance and operations.
"Dr. Hurwitz is an extraordinary leader," school officials said. "He will be an immediate asset to our school community as we work together to support students to reach their highest potential. We are pleased and excited to welcome him back to Glastonbury Public Schools."
