Glastonbury Benefits with Grants from the Glastonbury Community Fund
Glastonbury, CT - The Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving announces 2024 grant awardees

Glastonbury, CT - The Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving announces the allocation of $24,550 in grants to 11 nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organizations. These grants aim to enhance the quality of life within Glastonbury or address vital needs within the community.
Among the top recipients is Glastonbury EMS, a cornerstone of emergency medical services in Connecticut for an impressive 67 years. With a fleet of four ambulances and a dedicated team of volunteers and paid staff, Glastonbury EMS responds to over 4,300 calls annually.
Recognizing the critical role of state-of-the-art equipment in their lifesaving efforts, Glastonbury EMS was awarded a $5,000 grant from the Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund. This grant will enable the acquisition of new Automatic External

Defibrillators (AEDs), facilitating saving lives and preserving the well-being of Glastonbury residents.

and first aid training. We also stand by for community activities such as local races and the Applefest. This grant not only benefits our organization, but also the entire community
that relies on us as first responders.”
This year’s other award recipients and their respective grants are:
- Glastonbury ABC Inc., $5,000 towards a sustainable initiative supporting disadvantaged young scholars who reside at the ABC House and are enrolled in Glastonbury’s educational system.
- Glastonbury Farmers Market, $3,000 to support Glastonbury’s public market for farmers and artisans.
- Special Olympics Glastonbury, $2,000 designated to offer financial assistance to Glastonbury athletes who compete in Special Olympics events.
- Glastonbury Arts, $2,000 to support their annual fine art and craft festival on Glastonbury’s historic green.
- For All Ages, Inc., $2,000 to establish “Tea@3” an intergenerational program in Glastonbury that connects college students with elderly adults for a weekly one-on-one call to reduce social isolation.
- Friends of Welles-Turner Memorial Library, $1,750 to enhance the WTML Summer Reading Program.
- Glastonbury River Runners, $1,250 to support the “Rising Stars” youth running program. This program promotes health, wellness, and activity for youths between the ages of 4 and 12.
- Shine Your Light CT, Inc., $1,050 to pilot a stress-relief and problem-solving program for economically disadvantaged residents in collaboration with Welles Turner Memorial Library.
- Glastonbury Chorus, $1,000 towards providing musical performances in Glastonbury senior residences.
- New Britain Museum of American Art, $500 grant to cover art programming fees for Glastonbury elementary school students facing financial barriers.
Over the past four years, the Glastonbury Greater Together Advisory Committee has awarded a total of more than $100,000 to benefit Glastonbury and its residents. Since its inception, the fund has consistently expanded its reach, demonstrating a commitment to fostering a stronger, more vibrant community.
The Glastonbury Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee was established in 2020. The Advisory Committee, all volunteers, includes Glastonbury residents Beatrice
Maslowski, Donald Kray, Elias Morera, Ellen Saunig, Emmelia King, Ira Yellen, James Hagen, James Estrada, Jon Brink, Kelly Gray, Kennedy Hudner, Laura Amenta, Laura Hecker, Linda Cimino, and Margaret LaCroix. Serving as co-chairs, elected by the Advisory Committee, are Amenta and Hecker.
