Glastonbury's Smith Middle School Ranked Among Best In The State

A new ranking from U.S. News & World Report includes a local school as one of the best middle schools in Connecticut.

GLASTONBURY, CT β€” Smith Middle School in Glastonbury is the 41st-best best public middle school in Connecticut, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.

House of Arts Letters and Science (Hals) Academy in New Britain is tops in the U.S., according to the ranking.

U.S. News researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation’s best public middle schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. The researchers analyzed 59,128 middle schools for the report.

Smith scored 85.82 out of 100 in the ranking.

Smith Middle School has 853 students and the school serves Grades 6 through 8. At Smith Middle School, 63 percent of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 70 percent scored at or above that level for reading, according to the ranking.
