Negligent Homicide Charge Filed In Glastonbury Fatal Pedestrian Crash

GLASTONBURY, CT β€” An arrest has been made in connection with a fatal collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle in Glastonbury in January, police records show.

The crash occurred on Jan. 11 and, four days later, police announced that the pedestrian had not survived. Police on March 15 said they were notified by the the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that the pedestrian died as a result on injuries in the crash.

The pedestrian was then identified by police as 61-year-old Phillip Burleson of Glastonbury.

According to a crash report, at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 11, Burleson was crossing the 100 block of Glastonbury Boulevard from north to south with other people and was struck by a vehicle traveling west on Glastonbury Boulevard, police said.

On April 24, Glastonbury Police arrested Michael Taylor, 69, of Glastonbury, via a warrant that charged him with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, traveling unreasonably fast and failure to yield to a pedestrian, police records show.

An investigation determined the that the three pedestrians were crossing the street inside the marked crosswalk, police said. Taylor remained at the scene and cooperated with police, according to a report. He posted a $50,000 bond and has a court date of May 15, records show.
