Plate Reader Snags Driver Of Stolen Car In Glastonbury

GLASTONBURY, CT — A plate reader led Glastonbury police to a stolen car earlier this month, according to an arrest report.

A report issued this week shows that, on Oct. 18, Glastonbury police arrested 22-year-old East Hartford resident Adonise Torres Jairo Mendez for interfering with an officer and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.

Police were alerted by a license plate reader system to a stolen vehicle in the area of Main Street and Griwold Street. Mendez was then observed in the stolen car in in the parking lot of the Griswold Mall, 2850 Main Street.

Mendez fled on foot when he observed officers in the area, but was later found behind Naubuc School and taken into custody.
