I-95 Road Work To Begin In Groton, Stonington
A project will begin in Groton and Stonington on Monday which will continue into 2024.

GROTON, CT — Crews will be working on I-95 northbound in Groton, Stonington, and North Stonington beginning on Monday and continuing through next year. The work will improve the bridge and replace lighting on the highway as part of a $38.25 million project.
“This valuable work will allow drivers to safely get to their destinations along I-95,” State Rep. Aundré Bumgardner (D-Groton, Stonington) said in a statement. “We welcome any effort to improve our community and allow more people to discover our beautiful district.”
At first, construction crews will be working during the day and closing the right shoulder sporadically. Night work will begin in May. The Connecticut Department of Transportation does not anticipate any ramp closures until late summer or early fall. Mainline roadwork will start in August, according to the statement.
