Man Tried To Meet Underage Girl For Sex In Groton, Police Say
He was arrested as part of a law enforcement operation targeting child sex predators, police said.
GROTON, CT — A man is facing charges that he traveled from New York to Groton to meet an underaged girl for sex, according to a police statement.
Local police in a joint operation with Naval Criminal Investigative Services made the arrest Friday at 5 p.m.
Timothy D. Clark, 38, of Poughkeepsie, New York, was arrested in Groton as part of a law enforcement operation targeting child sex predators, police said.

The underage female Clark believed he was meeting was actually an undercover law enforcement agent who had used chatrooms and accounts posing as a girl to make contact with child sexual predators.
Clark was charged with criminal attempt to commit second-degree sexual assault, criminal attempt to commit risk of injury to a minor, and harmful communication with a minor.

He was held on $250,000 court-set cash or surety bond. He was scheduled to be arraigned Monday at New London Superior Court.
