Motorcyclist Dies After Crash In Groton, ID Released: Report
Route 117 was temporarily closed to traffic following the crash, Groton police said.
UPDATE: Barry Mclarty, 67, died as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on Saturday morning, WFSB 3 TV reports.
Initially it was reported that Mclarty suffered serious injuries in the 8:30 a.m. crash but he later died around 2:30 p.m., WFSB 3 TV reported. (Read more at WFSB 3 TV).
Original story: GROTON, CT — A motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries following a crash in Groton on Saturday morning.

According to Groton police, the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Route 117 near Gales Ferry Road. Police said the motorcycle was traveling southbound on Route 117 when the driver lost control, laid the motorcycle down on its left side, crossed into the northbound lane, and struck the curb on the east side of the roadway.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident, police said.

When first responders arrived, they found the driver unconscious with serious injuries. The driver was transported to L&M Hospital in New London, where he remains in critical condition.
Police later identified the driver as Barry McLarty, 67, of Ledyard. Officers made contact with McLarty’s family and notified them about the crash.
Route 117 was temporarily closed to traffic following the crash. The road reopened around 11:15 a.m.
