Water Superintendent retires

Award given by the State

On February 21st, Russell Fowler of Noank retired from 26 year employment as Superintendent of the Noank Water Company, at a dinner in his honor at the Noank Fire District Hall. He was presented with a CT Citation of Service from Senator Heather Somers.

We'll miss his friendly smile and familiar pickup truck at water emergency scenes in front yards at midnight with 6" of snow in 10 degree weather locating the underground valve for a house with a flooded basement. We'll miss the man who made certain that we drank clean water and that fire hydrants didn't stay out of service, who stood up in annual meetings with a strong New England twang and summarized the past year's water activities. We'll also miss him serving and chairing our Zoning Meetings for almost 30 years..

And if Mr. Fowler wasn't busy with water and zoning, he was always our military organizer for Noank's annual Memorial Day Parade, one of the nation's oldest.

Russell, thank you for everything! Noank was glad to have you.
