East Hartford Man Dead After Being Hit By Vehicle: EHPD

The 60-year-old was crossing the street Saturday night when he was hit and killed.

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Local police continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian accident in East Hartford on Saturday, Sept. 27, that claimed the life of a 60-year-old local man.

According to the EHPD, at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to 785 Silver Lane for a report of a serious crash with injuries.

Police said the victim, later identified as 60-year-old William Drouin of East Hartford, was crossing Silver Lane on foot when he was hit by a vehicle.

"The victim was treated on scene by the (East Hartford) Fire Department, but he was ultimately pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after," wrote the EHPD.

Police said the operator of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation.

"The investigation remains active," wrote EHPD spokesman Marc Caruso on Tuesday. " There have not been any arrests made as of this time. "
