Amber Alert Cancelled, 11-Year-Old Girl Found, Father In Custody, East Hartford Police Say

An amber alert was issued on Saturday for a missing 11-year-old girl and her father, who had an active federal warrant, local police said.

UPDATE: East Hartford Police said that at 2 p.m. Saturday, an Amber Alert was issued for an 11-year-old girl.

The girl was believed to be with her father, Ricardo Santiago, police said.

Santiago has an active federal warrant, and it was believed Ricardo had his daughter with him while trying to flee the area, police said.

"Shortly after the Amber Alert was issued, both Ricardo and (the girl) were located in Hartford," police said in a news release. "Ricardo is currently in custody, and (the 11-year-old) is safe and unharmed."


Original story: EAST HARTFORD, CT/MANCHESTER, CT — The East Hartford Police Department was seeking a 59-year-old male believed to be with his 11-year-old daughter, who were both reported missing Saturday.

Less than an hour after issuing an Amber Alert at 1:22 p.m., police reported the alert was canceled.

The EHPD, via an Amber Alert issued at 1:22 p.m. on Saturday, was looking for a 59-year-old male, who was described as a white male who is bald with brown eyes.

An Amber Alert is a statewide police alert in which all Connecticut police departments, as well as broadcast and communications outlets, are notified of the situation.

Saturday afternoon, cell phone, television, and radio alerts were issued regarding the matter.

According to the EHPD, both father and daughter were last seen in Manchester on Friday evening and it is believed they are traveling together in the Jeep.

By about 2:10 p.m., it was being reported that the alert was cancelled and the girl was safe and with her mother.
