HARTFORD, CT — A Hartford-based hospital is hosting a free mammogram event for uninsured women this weekend.
Saint Francis Hospital will host its annual "PinkLink" event on Saturday, Oct. 25, offering free screening mammograms for underinsured and uninsured women.

It will take place at the Karl J. Krapek, Sr. Comprehensive Women’s Health Center, 114 Woodland St., Hartford, from 7 a.m. to noon.
On Wednesday, Saint Francis Hospital held an event in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month to announce the PinkLink free mammogram event.

Joined by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Dr. Christina Metcalf, division director of Breast Surgery at Saint Francis, and Valerie Powell-Stafford, president of Saint Francis, discussed the importance of breast cancer prevention and equitable health care services.
In the US, one in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, according to Saint Francis.
These free mammogram events support the Saint Francis mission to ensure equitable health care services for all, regardless of geographic location, socioeconomic circumstances, or insurance status.
The program launched in 2012 and in the last five years, has provided over 400 free mammograms for women in the local community.
