Dealer Linked To Meth Sales In Middletown, Hartford Sentenced: Feds
A drug dealer connected with sales in Middletown and Hartford is headed to prison, a federal prosecutor said.
MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Hartford man linked to the sale of methamphetamine to undercover agents in Middletown, along with a separate sale in the capital city, has been Sentenced to three years in a federal prison, a leading prosecutor said.
Marc H. Silverman, Acting United States attorney for the District of Connecticut, said that 41-year-old Godfrey Smith, known on the streets as "Mike" and "Mikey," was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford to 36 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for trafficking meth.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in April, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration's Hartford Task Force and Middletown Police Department made a controlled purchase of approximately 53 grams of crystal meth from an "individual" in Middletown. During the transaction, investigators identified Smith as the source of the drugs.

On Aug. 22, investigators made a controlled purchase of approximately 240 grams of crystal methamphetamine from Smith in Hartford, according to case records.
Smith was arrested on a federal criminal complaint on Sept. 4. At the time of his arrest, law enforcement agents seized from Smith approximately 27 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 44 grams of cocaine, 32 grams of crack cocaine, $3,200 in cash, and a box of .45 caliber ammunition.

On Dec. 5, 2024, Smith pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 5 grams or more of methamphetamine.
