Middletown Police Awarded $45K Justice Assistance Grant
Among the items to be purchased are filters for MSA gas masks, cameras, a handheld thermal imager, various crime scene/evidence collection lights, forensic kits and simunition weapons conversion kits and ammunition.

The Middletown Police Department was awarded a Justice Assistance Grant of $45,385 for police technology from the federal Office of Policy and Management.
Each town in the state was allotted a specific sum of money for technological equipment. With this grant the department is approved to purchase new computers, Tasers, filters for MSA gas masks, a camera with accoutrements, a handheld thermal imager, various crime scene/evidence collection lights, forensic kits and simunition weapons conversion kits and ammunition.
The Middletown Police Department will be purchasing several of the approved items.
“This grant will enable us to purchase important equipment for the men and women of our police force without an impact to local taxpayers as we work to keep the public safe, said Mayor Daniel Drew.
“During these times when budget restraints are on the rise, the Middletown Police Department has been very fortunate to receive several grants. I am especially excited about this grant because it allows us to purchase equipment that will help us to be more effective as police officers," said Chief William McKenna. "Having the equipment you need on hand and readily available makes all the difference in the world.”
