Kayaker Rescued Following Mishap On CT River In Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A kayaker was hauled to safety on the Connecticut River in Middletown Tuesday, fire officials said.

The call was posted on social media channels just before noon.

Middletown Fire's Marine 1 unit responded to the call, along with a civilian boat, officials said. The craft had overturned and the kayaker was clinging to it in the river, officials said.

The civilian boat picked up the kayaker and the kayak and brought them to the Portland side of the river, where Portland Fire Department and EMS were standing by for evaluation, officials said.
