Middletown Arrests: May 9-20
The following police reports are obtained from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

Middletown Police report the following incidents:
May 20
THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT, RISK OF INJURY TO CHILD — At 6 a.m., Lucan F. Davila, 20, of Highland Avenue turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.
SECOND-DEGREE FAILURE TO APPEAR — At 7:30 a.m., Eliseo Nieves, 24, of Main Street, Berlin, turned herself in on an outstanding warrant.
May 19
INTERFERING WITH OFFICER — A person approached police saying they had seen Joseph A. Castro, 48, of Silver Street do a drug deal at Main and William streets.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT, THREATENING — Charles A. Lafo, 29, of Grapevine Road, Haddam, was picked up by Berlin Police on an outstanding warrant from Middletown.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 6:21 p.m., Keith Bresson, 54, of Dogwood Lane, Meriden, was at a home on Grand Street with his former roommate, Luke Hansen, 57, of Grand Street, the report says, and verbally and then physically fought with each other after Bresson, who had been moving out for months, gathered his things, then attacked him. Police say Bresson was very drunk and rambling. The report indicates Bresson was "paying too much attention" to the Hansen's girlfriend and grabbed him by the neck and punched him in the head. Hansen grappled with Bresson and ripped his earring from his ear, police say. After being treated at the hospital, police say, Bresson was booked at 8:15 p.m. and still smelled of alcohol with glassy and bloodshot eyes. They were both arrested.
INSURANCE COVERAGE FAILS MINIMUM, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION, SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 2:21 p.m., Daniel Hughes, 48, of West High Street, East Hampton, was at Stop & Shop on East Main Street shopping, according to the report, with green reusable bags with merchandise inside them in his carriage. The loss prevention officer saw Hughes put more items in there, passed through a closed register then buy a hot dog from a woman selling them as a fundraiser. The items totaled $56.90, according to police. The security person told police he had seen Hughes take razors on April 28 at 12:53 p.m., and return them for cash. The report says Hughes admitted to the two thefts, adding he had done so six times from Stop & Shop.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, MAKING AN IMPROPER TURN, FAILURE TO MAINTAIN PROPER LANE — At 1:46 a.m., William Bartolotta, 31, of Newfield Street was driving on the Berlin Turnpike/Cedar Street when Newington Police.
SIXTH-DEGREE LARCENY — At 12:02 p.m., Bradley Malone, 22, of Starr Drive, Rocky Hill, was at Bob's Stores on East Main Street and took four Under Armour sports clothing worth $22.99 each into his pants and tried to leave without paying, according to the report. The total value was $91.96. Police say Malone agreed what he did was stupid but he needed to repay someone whom he owed money to for a car.
May 17
INTERFERING WITH A SEARCH, NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA AND DRUGS NEAR SCHOOL, POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES LESS THAN 1,500 FEET FROM SCHOOL — At 9:45 p.m., police served a narcotics warrant on Tkeitus D. Cherry, 28, of South Main Street and found him inside reaching for a bag with 7 grams of marijuana inside, the report says, after which police had to physically force him on the the bed as he tried to throw it out the window. It took four officers to cuff him due to his large size, police say. A search revealed $278 in cash, copper wool, a prescription bottle with one Oxycodone pill, two large, sheathed machetes and a digital scale and razor, according to the report.
THIRD-DEGREE ASSAULT — A woman came into police headquarters saying her boyfriend, Daniel K. Lawrence, 27, of Fairview Avenue, grabbed her shoulders, squeezed them tightly, and tried to lift her off the ground, according to the report. When she sad down and cried, police say, he took her wrist and twisted it then choked her. At his house, police say, Lawrence's mother and father said they had seen some of the fight while the victim asked why he ended the relationship then "bear hugged" him to which he "shrugged" her off.
IMPROPER PARKING, ILLEGAL OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION — Crystal Wilcox, 24, of Main Street, Durham, was driving on Highland Avenue and Randolph Road.
May 13
FAILURE TO CARRY LICENSE, DUI, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE WITH CELL PHONE — Monika Szymczyk, 31, of Basswood Drive was driving a Buick Century on Main Street and the officer who stopped her smelled alcohol on her breath. The report says Szymczyk admitted to drinking a beer while driving from Plainville. Her blood alcohol levels were .168 and .156 percent.
May 12
OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE UNDER SUSPENSION AND UNREGISTERED, FAILURE TO CARRY CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE — At 6:49 p.m., Daniel T. Cady, 19, of Ackley Cemetery Road, Colchester, was driving a Chysler Pacificia on Main Street without a front marker plate.
May 11
DISORDERLY CONDUCT — At 10:45 a.m., Renee M. Donkor, 27, of Killingworth Road, Higganum, was at Middlesex Hospital when police were called about her yelling at a nurse and tossing a bowl of oatmeal at staff, according to the report. It landed on the floor, police say, so staff tried to restrain her, but Donkor threw a cup of milk at the nurse, hitting him in the chest. The report says she admitted to doing so in retaliation for putting her in the hospital. She wouldn't sign the summons, police say.
May 9
FIRST-DEGREE CRIMINAL TRESPASS — At 3 a.m., Soloman S. Dill, 34, of Long Hill Road was on the campus of Wesleyan University when a public safety officer called police about a silver Apple laptop computer and pair of black headphones. The report says the officer saw Dill take them from a William Street apartment and when stopped told public safety he was invited by a Wesleyan student who gave him the computer because he was leaving and no longer needed it. The owner, reached by phone in New York City, the report says, didn't give Dill either item. The student didn't want to press charges, police say, but public safety did on behalf of the university. Dill gave police a signed statement swearing he burglarized the apartment and told the officer he, "knew he was going to do something soon to get himself in trouble."
