MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown has experienced a "notable" reduction in its overall crime rate, with reported incidents dropping by 18 percent in 2024.

A report was released Thursday.

"This positive trend is the result of the continuous efforts of the Middletown Police Department, whose commitment to enhancing public safety and fostering strong community partnerships has contributed significantly to the decrease," town officials said.

Key highlights from the 2024 crime statistics include substantial reductions in property crimes, vehicle thefts, fraud, and damage to property.

"This decline can be attributed to the Middletown Police Department’s investments in technology, community outreach programs, and officer training initiatives," officials said. "These advancements have not only improved response times and operational efficiency but have also strengthened relationships with residents and local organizations, turning the community into an active partner in the fight against crime.
