MIDDLETOWN, CT — Chalk up another assist by Middletown police dog Castle.

On Thursday night, Middletown Police Department street crime detectives conducted a traffic stop and requested the assistance of Officer Elliot Arroyo and Castle, officials said.

Castle conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted officers to the odor of narcotics, officials said.

In addition to drugs, police located an "illegally possessed firearm" during the search and an arrest was made, officials said.
