Middletown's I Nuri Make Passionate Pilgrimage Through City Streets
There is nothing quite like the site of hundreds of the devoted, en masse, in a religious fervor, converging on this stately church.
In surely the most passionate religious event in Middletown, 200 parishioners — men, women and children — departed Sunday from the family graves in St. Sebastian’s Cemetery in Rockfall and the Italian Society on Court Street.
The rain kindly held off to allow all those clad in white with red sashes, carrying white and red carnations to chanting loudly, “Primu Diu e Sammastianu!” (first God, then St. Sebastian) and honor the patron saint of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church.
