Middletown's South Fire District Receives Funding To Renovate Outgrown Station
The fire station was built in 1969 for volunteers.

MIDDLETOWN, CT—South Fire District has received $1 million in state funding to make needed renovations on the Randolph Road station, the Hartford Courant reports.
The State Bond Commission granted the funding to renovate and expand South Fire, which was built in 1969 for volunteer service. The department has outgrown the space because it currently has 35 sworn members and three administrative employees.
With the funding, the Middletown district can expand its dormitory, add a women's locker room, renovate the men's locker room and increase administrative space.
