Obituary: James C. Allen, 80, of Middletown

Jim, a devoted family man and avid sports fan, worked at Raymond Engineering for over 40 years.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Doolittle Funeral Home) James C. Allen, 80, of Middletown, husband of Judith (Pierre) Allen for 42 years, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at home with family by his side.

Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late David and Emily (Birge) Allen.

Jim graduated Canton High School Class of 1959 and UConn School of Engineering in 1963. He worked for Raymond Engineering for over 40 years. Jim was a member and communicant of Saint Pius X Church.

He was an avid Red Sox fan, New England Patriots fan and all of UConn sports. He enjoyed sailing, fishing and golfing and most of all loved his children and grandchildren.

Along with his wife, Jim is survived by three sons, Ryne C. Allen of Arizona, Darryl D. Allen and his wife Lisa of Needham, MA and Troy D. Allen and his wife Javette of Glastonbury; a daughter, Kara W. Chagnon and her husband David of Waltham, MA; a brother, Richard Allen and his wife Carolyn of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, David Chagnon, Taylor Allen, Brandon Allen, Gianna Allen, Troy Allen and Adele Allen and several nieces.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Allen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown. Burial will be in Dyer Cemetery in Canton. Family and friends may call on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church Street, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to Saint Pius X Church, 310 Westfield Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
