Obituary: Paula Anne Barnett-Graves, 54, of Middletown

Paula worked for the State of CT Department of Transportation as a maintainer for over 25 years and cherished time spent with loved ones.

MIDDLETOWN, CT - (From Biega Funeral Home) Paula Anne Barnett-Graves, 54, of Middletown, devoted wife of Edward L. Graves, passed on Friday September 24, 2021 with her family by her side at Middlesex Hospital.

She was born in Middletown, the daughter of the late Paul F. Barnett, Sr. and late Warnille A. (Smith) Barnett.

Paula was a 1985 graduate of Nathan Hale-Ray High School in East Haddam. She and Edward were married on April 18, 1987.

Prior to her retirement, Paula worked with the State of CT Department of Transportation as a Maintainer for over 25 years.

Paula had a love for shopping (that would include every aisle), online gaming, driving her brother’s Tractor Trailor Truck, participating in the DOT Truck Rodeo, taking pictures of sunsets and vacations to the family cabin in Maine that would include everyone loading up in a car or two each evening looking for Moose.

Paula enjoyed collecting many things that she now has left behind for her family to sort through.

She will be remembered for her love of animals, cars and trucks, antique tractors and Tupperware. Although rough around the edges, Paula had a genuine and caring heart, and would drop everything to be there for support.

She truly loved gatherings with family and friends, especially enjoying her time spent with her grandchildren and seeing them smile.

In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her children, Stacy A. Barnett, Christine L. Barnett and her fiancé Michael, Nicholas E. Graves and his wife Mickaela, and Nathan V. Graves and his wife Maddison; five grandchildren, Julian, Lexus, Logan, Jordyn and Juniper; close family friends, Jeffrey Bilodeau, Barbara Schukoske and Michael Ruffino; brothers, Paul Barnett, Jr. (Rhonda), Randy Barnett (Tracia); sister, Bonnie Barnett-Butler (Scott); many aunts, uncles, in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

She was predeceased by her beloved son, Vincent N. Graves; stepmother, Edna Barnett; brother Terry Barnett, and her favorite horse, Honey.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (Oct. 9th) at 10 a.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.

Burial will be in Farm Hill Cemetery, Middletown.

Friends may visit with her family on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
