Officer-Involved Shooting Investigated In Middletown: Police

It is considered an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public, cops say. A news conference is planned later Saturday.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — An officer-involved shooting is under investigation, police said Saturday.

At 6:33 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Liberty Street. As a result, an officer involved shooting occurred, police said.

The suspect was injured and taken to a hospital, where he is receiving treatment and is in serious but stable condition, police said.

The officer was also injured and has been released from the hospital. The Office of Inspector General is leading the investigation, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and no IDs have yet been released.

Neighbors told Eyewitness News they saw police officers carrying rifles outside of a home, and several minutes later, someone was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
