PD: Man Caught With Pot, Scale Was 'Researching' Marijuana Dealing

Middletown police say the 24-year-old city man 'claimed he used to sell marijuana but did not anymore,' and the pot was for him.

On May 2 at 6:48 p.m., Percy Carr Jr., 24, of Butternut Knoll was driving a Chevrolet Impala on Maplewood Terrace, according to Middletown Police.

The report says he ran a stop sign and the car smelled of marijuana and officers found a digital scale, plastic baggies with 2.4 grams of pot, three cell phones and a laptop inside.

Police say Carr "claimed he used to sell marijuana but did not anymore," and the pot was for him. When the officer asked to view his text messages, Carr "became overcome with a despondent look and said, 'yes,' but he was just looking into" selling drugs.

He was charged with STOP SIGN VIOLATION, OPERATION MOTOR VEHICLE IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION, NON-STUDENT POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNALIA NEAR SCHOOL, POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL, DISTRIBUTION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES LESS THAN 1,500 FEET FROM SCHOOL, POSSESSION LESS THAN HALF-OUNCE MARIJUANA.
