Police reports are obtained from the Middletown Police public information officer and inclusion on this list reflect charges filed, not convictions.

A 57-year-old city woman with a history of larceny and forgery around Connecticut stole $82 in merchandise from Stop & Shop, then told authorities it was for her sick son, according to Middletown Police.

On May 11 at 9:05 p.m., Lisa A. Marshall, 57, of South Main Street was at Stop & Shop on East Main Street when a loss prevention officer saw her take items from an aisle and cover them with a circular in her carriage.

The reports says Marshall then placed Burt's Bees lotions on top of the newspapers in her carriage, the report says.

In the produce department, police say, she put the lotions in her purse and then left the store by the pharmacy exit, stealing $82.17 worth of items in total.

The loss prevention officer recognized her as taking items in the past, police say. In the security office, police say, Marshall told them "she was sorry for stealing but she is sick and dying of cancer," and had a son at home, also sick, and didn't have enough money to pay for the merchandise her son needed.

Marshall was charged with sixth-degree larceny.

She was found guilty of sixth-degree larceny in March 2012, November 2010, third-degree larceny in July 2006 in Farmington, and second-degree forgery in Newington in September 2006, according to the Connecticut Judicial website.
