Picture Middletown: Here Comes The 'Paddy Wagon'

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Here's a good one for an installment of Picture Middletown. It's a a vintage "paddy wagon" operated by the MPD Auxiliary.

The photo from the Middletown Police Department archives dates back to the late 1930s and early 1940s. This one seemed to be hauling more equipment than prisoners.

"Our speciality unit vehicles have come a long way throughout the years," police said.

Indeed, it had no side windows and, but a very cool running board on each side. That was the style back then.
