Motor Scooter Gang Sought After Newington Road Rage Incident: Police

Saturday's incident in Newington resulted in shots being fired into a vehicle on Hartford Avenue.

NEWINGTON, CT — Local police are investigating an apparent road-rage incident Saturday that resulted in shots being fired among a group of motor scooter riders and a sedan.

According to the Newington Police Department, officers were called to Hartford Avenue near the Hartford city line at about 8:25 p.m. to investigate a "road-rage related incident" there.

The NPD said the Hartford Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter activation in that area and located shell casings in the roadway in Newington.

"The initial investigation indicated that there was a road rage-type incident between a sedan and a group of motorized scooters," wrote the NPD in a statement Monday.

"During the altercation, the operator of one of the scooters discharged a firearm into the sedan."

Newington police said there were no reported injuries from the incident, and the investigation is still ongoing.

Police said this was a road-rage incident and "not a random act of violence."

The incident is currently being investigated by NPD Det. Derrick Walker.

Police were able to get pictures of the suspects involved, and they were distributed to the public on Monday.
