Driver Seriously Injured In 4-Vehicle Crash On I-395 In Norwich

NORWICH, CT — A four-vehicle crash in Norwich on I-3915 southbound led to injuries Tuesday, according to state police.

The accident occurred between exits 14 and 18 at 1:31 p.m.

The vehicles were in a construction zone when a Kenworth truck, which was hauling 25,000 lbs. of metal beam, struck another truck's rear. That truck then hit an SUV and a sedan.

The metal beams in the Kenworth truck then became loose and went into the driver's compartment. This caused the driver to be trapped in the vehicle.

The Kenworth truck's driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to William Backus Hospital in Norwich.

Two others were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to state police.
