Homeless Man Accused Of Setting Fire At Norwich Home: PD
Residents were able to extinguish the blaze, according to police.

NORWICH, CT — A homeless man is accused of setting a fire at a Smith Avenue residence over the weekend.
Lt. Kyle Besse said on Thursday that police have charged Eric Boudreau, 38, with second-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, and third-degree burglary.
Police were summoned Saturday, Aug. 16 around 9 p.m. to 58 Smith Ave. after dispatchers received reports of a suspicious fire within the residence, according to police.

When police arrived, residents had already extinguished the fire, according to Besse.
Police identified a suspect and located Boudreau a short distance away, Besse said. Boudreau was interviewed and then arrested.

Boudreau was arraigned Monday in Superior Court in Norwich, and he is next due in court on Oct. 1. As of Thursday, he remained incarcerated, being held on a $150,000 bond.
