Motorist Clocked At 130MPH Tells Cops He Needed to See Cat: Police
Police say the Norwich resident had been driving on I-395 and failed a field sobriety test.
A man accused of driving over 130 miles per hour on I-395 early Sunday told a state trooper he was speeding because he needed to get home to see his cat, according to police.
Logan Mirmozaffari, 28, of Norwich, was charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs.
A state trooper clocked Mirmozaffari’s Kia sedan at “over 130 miles per hour” near exit 11 on I-395 southbound in Norwich around 12:48 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The trooper pulled Mirmozaffari over and asked why he was driving so fast, according to police.
“Mirmozaffari explained that he wanted to get home to see his cat,” state police said, in a news release.

State police said the trooper detected the smell of alcohol on Mirmozaffari and observed he had slurred speech. Mirmozaffari subsequently failed a field sobriety test, according to police.
Mirmozaffari is due to appear in Superior Court in Norwich Feb. 6.
