Norwich Woman, 18, Identified As Fatal Shooting Victim In New Haven Halloween Night Shootout: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — The young woman who was shot and killed on Halloween night in New Haven was identified by police as Alexa Acevedo, 18, of Norwich.

A GoFundMe in Acevedo's memory for her family has been created. According to the appeal, she was a "hardworking 18-year-old."

"She graduated from NFA in June 2025 and was currently attending CTState with many goals and aspiration," the GoFundMe reads. "She followed in her mother's footsteps with a passion for early childcare education and a love for her family and music."

Police estimate between 7,000 and 10,000 people, mostly Halloween revelers, packed into downtown New Haven on Oct. 31 into Nov. 1.

Hours after the festivities began, one young woman, 18, was dead, another 18-year-old female was seriously injured and two men — a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old —also suffered gunshot injuries following a shootout near a nightclub. The latter's wounds were non-life-threatening.

According to New Haven police spokesperson Christian Bruckhart, it's "unknown at this point if shooters and/or victims had been (at the nightclub), but 18+ clubs have become a regional draw."
