1. 1 Norwich Resident Killed, 2 Injured In New Jersey Crash: Police (patch.com) — Norwich residents are at the center of a tragic wrong-way crash on I-80 in New Jersey that killed a local woman and seriously injured another resident and a toddler. Police say a Newark driver going the wrong way struck their SUV head-on, and the investigation is ongoing.
   

2. Norwich police hire three new recruits (theday.com) — Norwich residents will soon see three new officers joining the city’s police force, bringing the department to 75 officers, still short of full staffing. The recruits, all with local ties and military or security experience, are being sworn in this week before heading to the state police academy and eventual patrol shifts in Norwich.
   

3. Diocese of Norwich names new finance officer (norwichbulletin.com) — A new finance officer is taking over stewardship of the Diocese of Norwich’s finances, which support parishes, schools, and ministries across eastern Connecticut. Veteran finance professional Paul F. Dillon Jr. steps into the role with decades of corporate experience and a stated focus on transparency and prudent use of donor funds.
   

4. John A. Cutter (atholdailynews.com) — A Willimantic resident with strong family ties in Massachusetts has died at Backus Hospital in Norwich, where he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Friends and family can honor his life at a January 30 service in Orange, Massachusetts, remembering his newspaper career, love of nature and animals, and devotion to his children and grandchildren.
