• Norwich firefighters calendar has shirtless firemen and cute animals (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich firefighters are selling a 2026 calendar featuring local firefighters posing with rescue animals to raise money for several animal welfare organizations. Calendars cost $25 and are available through Norwich Firefighters Local 892, local bars and restaurants, and sponsor businesses. Organizers hope to sell all 600 copies and may print more if demand stays strong.
   

• CT store offers ‘Olive Branch' to families receiving services from DCF during the holidays (courant.com) — A Norwich mother describes how a free DCF-supported “Olive Branch” toy shop in Glastonbury helps her provide holiday and back-to-school gifts while preserving her dignity and privacy. The program, run through Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families and stocked by toy drives across the state, lets eligible families shop year-round by appointment at no cost.
