U.S. News & World Report Names Backus Hospital High Performing in the Treatment Heart Failure and Pneumonia
Norwich, CT – The William W. Backus was rated as “high performing” in the treatment of Heart Failure and Pneumonia for 2024-25 by US News & World Report.
The rankings and ratings from U.S. News are designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.
“I am so proud of the hard work, dedication and excellent care provided by all of our colleagues at Backus Hospital who helped make this recognition possible,” said Backus Hospital President Donna Handley. “This recognition is testament to our commitment to providing the best care possible for the communities we serve.”
For the 2024-25 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 medical centers nationwide in 15 specialties and 21 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialty areas, 164 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals as high performing across multiple areas of care. The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume, and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
