Oxford Diner Shares Reopening Timeline After New Year's Day Fire
Owners thanked first responders and said cleanup is underway following the Jan. 1 fire.
OXFORD, CT — Fritz's Snack Bar said it is hopeful to reopen toward the end of January following a New Year’s Day fire, according to a new update shared on the restaurant’s social media page.
“Thanks to their quick actions, we hope to be open sometime at the end of January,” the owners wrote, thanking the Oxford Fire Department and other first responders for their response to the early-morning fire.

Firefighters were dispatched around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 1 after a structure fire was reported at the building. Crews arrived to find smoke pushing from a second-floor window, and officials said the fire was contained to a second-floor apartment above the restaurant.
At least one person was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, police said. No injuries were reported inside the restaurant.

The business has remained temporarily closed while cleanup and recovery efforts continue. The owners said they will continue to keep the community updated on reopening plans.
Oxford EMS and Oxford Police also responded to the scene, and mutual aid partners assisted during the incident.
