OXFORD, CT — As Memorial Day weekend dawns, it is time to think about state tournament competition for high school teams. In Oxford, memories are still vivid of the magical spring of 2013, when the softball, baseball and boys volleyball teams all captured state crowns.

Since then, only the 2015 softball team has achieved the ultimate pinnacle, but five Wolverine squads are still in contention to add to the school's trophy case.

Three Oxford teams will be in action Tuesday. Baseball (12-8), seeded 15th in Class S, plays host to No. 18 Litchfield at 3:30 p.m. Softball (13-7) is seeded 18th in Class M, and will travel to 15th-seeded Granby at a time to be announced. The girls track and field team will be competing in the Class M championships at Willow Brook Park in New Britain, beginning at 4 p.m.
