Oxford Parks to Hold Memorial Day 5K Freedom Run
The 9th Annual Memorial Day 5K Freedom Run will be held on May 29 in Oxford. Veterans and active military may participate for free.

From Oxford Parks and Recreation: Looking for a way to get a little exercise and support our Veterans on Memorial Day? Then join us for the 9th Annual Memorial Day 5K Freedom Run! Thanks to this year’s race sponsor, Newtown Savings Bank, Oxford Parks and Recreation is hosting this event on Monday, May 29th at 8:00 a.m. The race starts at the Oxford Town Hall, 486 Oxford Road and goes south down Route 67 to Quarry Walk and back to Town Hall. The course is USATF certified. All net proceeds will go Oxford American Legion, American Warrior and Soldiers Angels. Walkers are also welcome to participate in the 2 mile fitness walk. The cost to participate is $25 per person if you register in advance. Veterans and active military personnel may participate for free! Wheelchairs and Baby Joggers are also welcome. The first 200 registrants will receive a commemorative race T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded in various categories.
Due to its overwhelming popularity, we will also once again hold the Kids Rock Hopper Fun Run sponsored by STIHL. Kids ages 5-12 will run from the Town Hall to Oxford Center School and back for a total of ½ mile. The Rock Hopper Fun Run registration fee is $10 and the first 100 kids to register will receive fun gifts as well!
