Oxford Truck Driver One of Nine Champions at Truck Driving Championship

The driver won the championship in the flatbed category.

Paul Brandon, a truck driver from Oxford was recently crowned as the best flatbed truck driver at the National Truck Driving Championships in Pittsburgh, the Republican-American reports.

Brandon, 55, a Fed-Ex freight truck driver, was one of nine champions announced during the championships.

In order to qualify, Brandon had to maintain a clean record in his personal and professional driving including accidents in which he wasn’t at fault, the paper reports. In the competition, drivers earn points through a written test, a pre-vehicle inspection and an obstacle course that simulates real-life situations.

Brandon told the paper his success was due to his varied experience as a truck driver and said the tournament heavily promoted safety.
